Who we are
My journey with ceremonial cacao began with a simple yet profound experience—I attended a cacao ceremony and instantly fell in love with this sacred plant medicine.
The way it opened my heart, lifted my spirit, and nurtured my whole being was undeniable. From that moment, I knew cacao was more than just a drink; it was a teacher, a healer, and a lifelong companion I wanted to honour and share.
We sourced this beautiful, rich and creamy 100% pure ancient seed ceremonial cacao from a cooperative of small farmers located in Guatemala.
The beautiful partnership with them aims to produce the finest cacao, leveraging their expertise in fermentation and drying techniques.
Each harvest, the farmers strive to increase their yield, providing more income for their families. This project has had a significant impact on the region, helping 300 families from 10 different communities to stay in their homeland rather than migrating north.
The cacao is grown in natural and/or man-made subtropical forests, as fine cacao requires approximately 70% shade for optimal growth.
As I deepened my connection with cacao within my own community, I began building a meaningful relationship with the farmers and people in Guatemala who have been stewarding this ancient plant medicine for generations.
This cultivation method helps preserve the ancient forests of the region, positioning these small-scale cacao producers as the frontline defenders of some of Guatemala’s most important natural reserves.
Approximately 50% of the 300 farmers are women who own and cultivate their own land. They are paid premium prices and treat their fermented cacao as unique, ensuring traceability for every seed we use.
It’s an incredible relationship that has been built and we look forward to what the future holds together. Staying connected to the land and people are of the utmost importance to us and will continue to build and nurture this relationship as we bring this beautiful plant medicine to you.
